New Assignment

Factual Production & Digital Video for Interactive Media

The brief can be accessed HERE.

Have a look at it over the Christmas Holidays. If you manage to arrange a date for your group to film (Micro Life in a day) prior to returning that would be good.

At some point over the next few days I will post a Paul's (idiot's) guide to what you need to submit for this assignment - hopefully by Tuesday of next week. It should make things more straightforward for you to follow.

I recommend looking at other projects that link into the projects you have to do so that you have some idea what is required - "50 people 1 question" "life in a day" and also some of the Foundation degree and 2nd year's viral videos.

You can find the other course and learners by clicking on "Moving Image Courses" tab of your course blog.

Have a good break and see you ALL in the new year

Paul

Vimeo - One Day Task

Hey there Vimeo Weekend Project Members, as some of you know, making a full length video can be a long and arduous process. Even after you come up with the idea, the actual production of it can be a bit more of a time commitment that you may have bargained for. Well, for this Weekend Project, we are going to give you the opportunity to skip out on the metaphorical meat and veggies of the movie making process and let you dive strait for the desert. That's right, it's time to make some fake trailers!

So, think back to all those times when you have thought to yourself, "Wow! This movie idea that I have right now could be awesome but I just don't have the time to make a full movie at this point in my life!" Because now, you have the weekend ahead of you, and that is a perfect amount of time to make a great trailer. It's okay to cut corners and string random scenes together because after all, trailers are aimed to intrigue the viewer and leave them wanting more. That said, this weekend, we challenge you to make a 1 to 2 minute trailer for a fake movie of any genre you choose. Here are two of my favorites to get your mind going in the right direction.

A few things:

Please remember that only videos made specifically for this project will be considered. All submitted videos must be approved by the Vimeo Staff before appearing in the Group, so don't worry if your video does not show up at first, we'll get to it, promise!

Try to keep your video under 2 minutes and make sure to submit your video to the Weekend Project Group.

All submissions are due on Tuesday, December 6th at 11:59 PM (EST).

The winner of this contest will get a free Plus account, or if you're already a Plus member, we're going to let you gift the Plus to whomever you choose (along with an extra 2.5 GB of upload space)! The runner-up will receive an extra 1 GB of upload capacity whether Plus or not.
